Jo Gilbert (Kerin, 1991)

What has been your journey since leaving Santa Maria College?

Since graduating in 1991, I have pursued a career in accounting. I travelled overseas and spent some time working in Perth before moving back to my hometown of Katanning in 2000, to take up a position with RSM Australia. After six years in Katanning I transferred to RSM’s Albany office and in 2017 was elected to the partnership of RSM. My husband Kaien and I live on a property on the outskirts of Albany with our two primary school aged sons Henry and Lewis.

What has been a highlight along the way?

Returning to live in the country and being able to forge a successful career with a national accounting firm, has been a real highlight for me. Also moving back to Katanning and then Albany, has meant being close to my family, who are all still farming in Katanning.

What is one of your fondest memories from your time at Santa Maria College?

My closest friends from my time at Santa Maria are still some of my closest friends in adulthood. This year my son Henry is in Year 5 at St Joseph’s College in Albany and his teacher is none other than Jen Grimes (Milne) who was a close friend of mine at Santa.
