Julia Moody Preps Our Cast!
The cast of Ask Any Girl was privileged to have professional voice coach, Julia Moody, come in and help us transform our strong Aussie accents into American ones! Julia is a highly respected vocal coach who was Head of Voice at WAAPA for 21 years. More recently, she had taught at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.
Julia began the workshop with some more experimental warm-ups to develop our resonance. It guaranteed a few laughs, before heading into some scene work. The workshop was so useful! We went through the play and delved into characterisation, discussing what makes our characters different and how that can come alive with our vocal choices. We further developed our unique characters using Julia’s feedback and techniques.Â
These are valuable skills we will take with us beyond the production and into further Drama studies.
