Lauren to Play for Australia!

Congratulations to Year 11 student Lauren Hardbottle, who has been selected to represent Australia in the Under 25s Wheelchair Basketball team in Thailand in May.

How long have you been playing wheelchair basketball?
I have been playing wheelchair basketball for four years

How did you come to be involved?
I started at Mirrabooka playing different wheelchair sports and fell in love with basketball. As it was very far for us to travel to Mirrabooka to play, my sister Emily set up a program in Melville.

Which teams do you play for?
I play for the Black Ducks (Junior mixed team), Wheelcats (Women’s Team) and Devils (Under 25’s Australian Team)

What do you enjoy most about playing wheelchair basketball?
I love everything about wheelchair basketball, but I especially love being part of a team and learning new skills.

What are you most looking forward to about the trip to Thailand and representing Australia?
I am looking forward to representing my country and training my hardest so that I can do my very best when I am in Thailand.
