Liz Receives Award of Meritorious Service

Congratulations to staff member Elizabeth van der Zanden, who has been honoured with an Award of Meritorious Service. The Merit Awards, from the Australian Association for Religious Education, recognise and acknowledge chaplains and educators in the fields of service-learning, ethics, philosophy, values, spirituality and religious education – who have made a significant contribution to their field in Western Australia.

Head of Mission, Jilly Landers, who nominated Liz for the award said, “Liz gives generously and authentically of her time and self for the religious development of our students. She values the physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing of students and strives to develop strong Catholic values in the girls.”

Liz, who is the Service-Learning Coordinator at the College and also teaches Religious Education, received the award in recognition of her exemplary contribution and service. The Association was impressed with her passion, work and achievements. Upon hearing of the award, Liz said, “I am honoured to receive this award in recognition of the work I’m passionate about and I feel blessed to work with an amazing team within the Religious Education Learning Area. I look forward to continuing to work with supportive colleagues who nurture faith in our students.”

Liz will be presented with her award at a dinner and awards evening in September.
