Lucy Awarded Prestigious New Colombo Plan Scholarship

Congratulations to past student, Lucy Stronach (2013), who has been awarded a prestigious New Colombo Plan scholarship.

The New Colombo Plan is a signature initiative of the Australian Government, which aims to lift knowledge of the Indo Pacific, by supporting Australian undergraduates to study and undertake internships in the region.

New Colombo Plan scholarships are highly contested and Lucy is among only 120 students in the country to be awarded this scholarship in 2018.

The New Colombo Plan involves a program for study of up to one year and internships or mentorships, and a flexible mobility grants program for both short and longer-term study, internships, mentorships, practicums and research.

Lucy, who is studying a Bachelor of Criminology (Criminal Behaviour & Crime Science) and Bachelor of Arts (Security, Terrorism and Counter‐Terrorism Studies) at Murdoch University will study Criminology and forensic science at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in Sri Lanka. Lucy plans to undertake an internship with the Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation in Vietnam and a UN office in Thailand. Lucy was also chosen to be the Sri Lankan Fellow. This recognises Lucy as the top-ranking scholar for her region.
