Make Your Mark: Arts Day 2020

The theme for Arts Day 2020 was ‘Make Your Mark’.

Students were given the opportunity to do this in two creative ways! An installation inspired by artist Roman Ondak. Staff and students were invited to ‘mark their measure’ on the wall in Doyle Lane, recording the date, their name and height. The idea is that collectively the marks build up to become a black and white artwork.

The second activity was to create a ‘MARK-squerade’ on a paper bag and have their photo taken. This idea was inspired by famous cartoon and illustrator Saul Steinberg. The students and staff had great fun doing this in the Mercy Gallery. Visual Art staff hand painted their own pair of black overalls to wear on the day!

Visual Arts Captain Kate Loughnan said, “It was amazing to see the level of participation from the girls in Years 5 through to 12. The long line of girls waiting to ‘mark their measure’ on the installation wall was amazing. I have really enjoyed leading a group of such creative girls this year in my leadership role, with Arts Day a great way to bring my role to a close.”
