Meet Our Deputy Head of Boarding
- December 4, 2019

What were you doing before coming into this role?
I am a teacher with a Health and Physical Education background. However, my most recent role was as a Teacher Development Consultant with the Department of Education. I coached and mentored early career teachers in areas such as curriculum development, pedagogical approaches and behaviour management. I facilitated workshops and conferences (face to face and online) to the Department of Education staff.
What do you hope to achieve in your new position?
I think Santa Maria College is already outstanding in all facets of the college. However, I hope to be part of a team that further develops a creative and effective wellbeing program for our boarding girls and a place that they call their favourite home away from home!
What are you most looking forward to as Deputy Head of Boarding?
This is an easy question for me to answer! I am most looking forward to being involved with the girls and working with them to create what they envision to be best the boarding house in Perth!
What is something most people don’t know about you?
I love the speedway! I am a country girl, raised in Bunbury. The speedway was a very popular weekend outing for my family and many of our farming friends. I have so many fun and treasured memories from those days.
What is your favourite quote?
I have read so many inspiring quotes over my lifetime, it is hard to choose. However, Mother Teresa inspires me every day, particularly with the following two quotes:
‘Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless’
and
‘We shall never know all the good that a simple smile can do’.
