One of three students nominated to submit a proposal for ‘Hatched’ Graduate Show at PICA. The Hatched National Graduate Show presents work from artists alongside their national peers in this showcase of emerging artists.
Molly already holds an Advanced Diploma of Live Production and Management Services (Costume). She designs and constructs costumes for our College drama productions and dance items. She fields many requests from staff and students and is an incredible asset to the College. We are very proud of her and her recent achievements.
Below is one of Molly’s art pieces submitted into the Graduate Art Exhibition ‘FAM18’.
Made from – Packaging materials: cardboard, paper, plastic, foam peanuts & tape, PET broom bristles.
Thesis – The works are an investigation into materiality providing a point of contact between the material, the maker and the viewer performing the experiential process. Encounters employs non-traditional artist materials that are remnants from my practice as a costume maker arranged into physical forms at a variety of scales. The process of making is informed by a growing sensitivity to matter that collapses the boundaries of object-human relations giving space for the object to exist alongside the human experience. The works are therefore an individual polemical offering to the debates surrounding our growing waste management crisis.
