Mud, Mayhem & High Ropes – Year 6 Camp Recap
Let’s be real – sending a bunch of excited Year 6s off to camp is always going to lead to some great stories. This year, at Kerem Adventure Camp, it gave us everything: courage, chaos, friendship… and one teacher who got a little too into laser tag.
Packed with challenges, laughs and plenty of dirt, this was a camp the girls will not forget anytime soon.
From High Ropes to Hidden Briefcases
The camp schedule had something for everyone: archery, low ropes, high ropes, rock climbing, orienteering, laser tag, spy games and a movie night for a well-earned wind-down.
High Ropes was a favourite, pushing students to take a deep breath and tackle the sky-high obstacles. “It was so fun, even though it was scary!” said Emily, who also added: “The food was delicious.”
Others loved the teamwork of the Low Ropes course. “We did it as a team,” said Isla C, “and the race at the end was really fun and exciting.”
Teamwork Was the Plan ... Until It Wasn’t
Of course, laser tag deserves a mention. What started as an organised game quickly unravelled when one of the teachers decided to go off-script.
Kate Warchomij, Year 6 teacher, shared, “While the students were busy forming teams and planning strategies, I went rogue and just tried to tag everyone,” she admitted. “Soon enough, they all turned on me – we laughed so hard. There were accusations of cheating… but I’m still pleading innocent!”
They returned to camp covered in dust, full of adrenaline, and already retelling the whole thing.

The Real Highlights
Beyond the wild games and funny stories, what really stood out were the quieter wins.
“There were girls who felt nervous about the activities, about being away from home, but every single one of them gave it a shot,” said Kate. “What stayed with me most was the way they lifted each other up. They were kind, they were encouraging, and they celebrated every success, no matter how big or small.”
Moments like this show just how capable these girls are – and how much they grow when given the chance.
What the Girls Had to Say
“My favourite part of camp was… EVERYTHING! I loved trying new activities and hanging out with the girls in my dorm. They made everything fun and made everyone feel comfortable.” Joanne
“The Spy Games were awesome – so much running around and trying not to get caught!” Eve
“I loved spending time with friends and making some new friends on camp. I loved the experience of achieving and conquering the rock climbing and high ropes especially because I am afraid of heights” Isla H
What They Took Home
We hope the girls walked away from camp with a deeper understanding of their own strengths – not just physically, but emotionally, too.
Whether tackling a fear of heights, helping a friend through homesickness, or stepping up as a quiet leader, each student achieved something worth celebrating.
If we had to sum it up?
Teamwork. Courage. Joy.
And a few tired legs, muddy socks and stories they’ll be telling all year.
We’re incredibly proud of our Year 6s – and yes, we’re already looking forward to the next camp!
