On Thursday 23 June, 100 students and 10 staff and parents headed to the Ern Halliday Campsite in Hillarys for three days of music making.
The main ensembles were the Symphonic Orchestra and the Guitar Ensemble. The Orchestra, under the direction of Rebecca Kinsella, involved string, brass, woodwind and percussion students. They formed a large group of over 75, whilst the Guitar Ensemble had 20 students singing and playing arrangements by our talented resident singer/songwriter, Helen Shanahan.
All participants were also involved in a choir, with Kelly Read and Evanna Brando taking the Years 5 – 8 students, Rebecca Kinsella directing the Years 9 and 10 Chorale and Paul Kinsella in charge of the Years 11 and 12 Chorale. The students were treated to musical activities in the evening, organised by Music Captain, Sinead Smithies and the Year 12 students. These included a fashion parade based on characters from Broadway musicals, a quiz night, movie night and talent show.
A special thanks to the wonderful group of mothers that gave up their time to help us on Camp; Jane Nolan, Kelly Gibson, Paula Smithies and Liz Perrott. The mums also put on a special act at the talent show, much to the delight of all present. Thanks also to Katie Mowday, Taylor Cutts, Kelly Read, Helen Shanahan, Evanna Brando and Rebecca Kinsella for their tireless efforts in preparing the girls for the final concert on Sunday which attracted an audience of over 200 parents, staff and friends.
