National Computer Science Schools Challenge Update

As reported last week, students in Year 8 Robotics and Coding have been competing to complete challenges using the Python programming language.

The competition goes for five weeks, with four new challenges released each week.  The girls have now finished the Years 7 and 8 level of the competition. There are over 9600 students in this level nationwide, and three of our girls are being recognised on the National Leaderboard! To achieve this, the girls have independently written 40 complete computer programs using the Python programming language.

These girls have used their problem-solving skills, been resilient and worked super hard in and out of class. The programs have to be correct after a set number of tries and the maximum number of points that can be earned is 400.

From L to R: Maia Clayden, Arlena Garces, Ainsleigh Passi,

Below are the girls’ scores

Maia Clayden – 400 points (Perfect score!)
Arlena Garces – 399 points (Amazing!)
Ainsleigh Passi – 397 points (Also amazing!)

These girls will be sent certificates recognising their achievements.

Class teacher Melissa Marshall said, “I am super proud of all of the students in the course. They have all completed reflections demonstrating so much learning and have all progressed in their coding skills.”
