During July and August, the annual Catholic Performing Arts Festival took place in various performance venues across the metropolitan area. A number of instrumental and vocal students from Santa Maria College participated in this event and were commended by the adjudicators for their performances. I would especially like to recognise the achievements of the following students who received official awards.

Zima-Jade Henderson (Year 7) received a Merit Award for Secondary Solo Piano.

Amelia Taranto (Year 5) and Estela Taranto (Year 6) received an Excellence Award in the Woodwind Ensemble section. The performance also featured their youngest sister, Isabel.

Estela and Amelia along with Ainsleigh Passi (Year 6) all received Outstanding Awards for their solo flute performances.

Also receiving Outstanding Awards were:

  • Sophie Parker (Year 6) Primary Cello
  • Brianna Rullo (Year 7) Secondary Flute
  • Niamh Smithies (Year 8) Secondary Cello
  • Gwyneth Chua (Year 10) Secondary Piano
  • Olivia Von Bertouch (Year 10) Secondary Percussion

The official certificates will be sent to the College and will be presented to the students soon at their Year level assemblies. Well done to all students who participated and congratulations to those students who received awards!
