7 Things I Loved About The Athletics Carnival – Jennifer Oaten Principal

 In News Blog

I had such a great day yesterday at the Santa Maria College House Athletics Carnival held at the State Athletics Centre.

Here is a list of the seven things I loved about yesterday’s athletics carnival.

Year 12s travelled on the Years 5 & 6 bus and shared their music. They sang all the way!

2 The outstanding performances of so many athletes.

3 The courage shown by the girls in that final energy burst for the finish line.

4 The cheers when Dayna Fennel broke the Year 12 shot putt record.

5 How the Sack races and Egg and Spoon races provided an overwhelming sense of fun, with so many students participating.

6 The performance of Mr Tilak and Mr Walker in the staff/student relay.  What a great way to finish the day!

7 Sense of community. The House spirit was fabulous each, and everyone was so proud of their House.

A big thank you to:

  • The Year 12 House Captains, who displayed exceptional leadership,
  • The House Coordinators,
  • The dedicated Physical Education staff, who all played such a key role,
  • All the staff who assisted, and
  • Congratulation to Head of Sport, Olivia Gamble, for the organisation of this great day.

IGSSA Athletics Carnival is coming up – can we be number ONE again in 2019?  We will find out in Week 9.
