Boarding Leaders Come Together
Leaders from boarding schools across Perth descended on Santa Maria last week to enjoy a night of fun and discussion at the annual Boarding Leaders’ Dinner. The boarders’ dining room was set up for the occasion, and the new dining room extension was put to its first use.
Students and staff began arriving at 6.30 pm and were welcomed in the Recreation Centre with finger food and a selection of drinks. It was a great time to catch up with our friends from other schools, while Robbie T the wonderful magician dazzled us with his amazing tricks.
Around 7.00 pm, we all made our way to the dining room to enjoy a meal together. This was a great opportunity to meet new people as we were seated on mixed tables with boarders from other schools. It also gave us the chance to discuss the different ways we go about our leadership at our schools, which was extremely beneficial.
After our meal, we heard from our lovely guest speaker Dr Ros Worthington. Ros, the driving force behind Breast Cancer Care WA, shared her story with us about the events of her childhood, her journey to becoming a philanthropist, and how she started Breast Cancer Care WA. Her inspiring words taught us all about how we can achieve anything we put our mind to, no matter how much or how little support we may have. Ros taught us that anything is possible.
Overall, the Santa boarding council and I had a great night and enjoyed the opportunity to meet new people, catch up with old friends and discuss the different ways we carry out our positions as boarding leaders.
