Connecting Learning to Life: Fashion Illustration

Fashion illustration is a large part of the fashion industry and an area the Home Economics department wanted to gain more insight into.

During the recent Connecting Learning to Life PD day, Fashion Illustrator Michelle Pike ran a three-hour workshop for our Home Economics department. In this way, we are bringing industry experience into our programs.Michelle has a masters degree in Fashion Design and over 20 years of experience in the industry. Her work includes private commissions, commercial work as well as illustrations for books and magazines. She is currently lecturing in fashion illustration at Perth South Metropolitan Tafe.

Michelle was able to pass her wisdom onto us and in particular how she teaches her students at Tafe. By participating in her workshop, we now feel confident to pass our newly learned skills on to our students, connecting learning to life and lifting them to the next level in their fashion illustration.
