Outdoor Education Expedition
The Year 10 Outdoor Education class have recently returned from their four-day expedition to Karridale. The girls abseiled and rock climbed at the Wilyabrup Sea Cliffs, went canoeing along the Blackwood River, navigated and bush walked to and from locations and set up camp at various campsites.
Initially, we thought we would be challenged by the weather, but it ended up being pretty good! We did need to change the original program due to a flood warning issued and did need to change the campsite locations, as we could no longer camp on the river’s edge, but our daytime skills sessions went ahead as planned.
It was fantastic for the students to see first-hand how reliant we are on the weather as ‘Outdoor Edders’, and to see alternative plans put in place and the logistics that are involved with a camp like this.
