Praying the Rosary

Catholics pray the rosary because it is a powerful prayer to God, through His mother, Mary. It is a prayer where we meditate and reflect upon different aspects of Jesus’ life through the eyes of His mother. It is also an opportunity for us to offer up the Rosary for a particular intention asking Mary to intercede for us at the right hand of God.

What many Catholics aren’t aware of, however, are the 15 promises from Our Lady herself if we faithfully recite the rosary.

These aren’t insignificant promises, but rather extremely helpful graces provided to those who are trying to live a good and faithful Catholic life: Here are Three of the 15 promises Mary made:

  1. To all those who shall pray my Rosary devoutly, I promise my special protection and great
  2. Whoever recites my Rosary devoutly, reflecting on the mysteries, shall never be overwhelmed by misfortune.
  3. What you shall ask through my Rosary you shall obtain.

Because the Rosary was given to us by Mary, it has great power. There have been many miracles associated with praying the Rosary. Make a commitment to pray the Rosary every day – and keep it.

Rosary is said in the College Chapel, each Thursday morning at 8.10 am. All members of the College Community are welcome.Rosary Prayers

Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen

Apostles Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day He rose again. He descended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen

Our Father

Our Father, who art in heaven; hallowed by Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. Amen

Hail Mary

Hail, Mary! Full of grace,
The Lord is with you;
Blessed are you among women,
And blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners,
Now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory Be to the Father

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen

Hail, Holy Queen

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, hail our life, our sweetness and our hope, to thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears; turn, then, most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us, and after this, our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary!

Pray for us, O holy Mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Prayer to St Michael

Holy Michael, Archangel, defend us in the day of battle; be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do thou Prince of Heavenly Hosts, by the power of God, thrust down to hell Satan and all other evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. Amen

Memorarae

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known, that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help or sought thy intercession, was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To thee I come before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petition, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen
