Students Challenged At Scitech

Developing and applying 21st Century skills to solve a real-world problem; this was the task set for the Year 5 IGNITE class who competed in a SciTech Challenge Day today.

Students worked in teams of four to understand and use innovation to solve a STEM problem. The girls had to communicate the processes they used to solve the problem to their peers and were then invited to present their final solutions to some guest judges.

Throughout the day, I learnt many things, such as teamwork and thinking out of the box.u00a0This Scitech excursion really challenged me, I had to go out of my comfort zone to complete the tasks.u00a0Rachael Wu

At the start of the excursion I was confused and worried because I didnu2019t know what I was going to have to do but when we were told what we were doing I was excited. The challenge was we had to make an invention that is environmentally sustainable. I really enjoyed this excision.u00a0Jade Worth

I really enjoyed being up against other schools and seeing what different solutions everyone came up with. Making the prototypes was my favourite part because it was hands on and we got to be creative using the limited resources.u00a0Jasmine Collins

I thought the excursion was fun and challenging, at times it got difficult, but it was fun in the end. We had a few lumps and hills to get over but apart from all of that I loved it all!u00a0Erin Wallace

We were challenged a lot and pushed to our limits. We also had to work with each other a lot and it was fun! We had to push ourselves and work with other schools, which at times might have been a bit uncomfortable but, we still powered through. I hope we get to do this again.u00a0Deandra Vaz

u00a0Our day at Scitech was awesome, it was fun and I personally loved it! They pushed us to our limits, they extended us. I definitely recommend it for next year.u00a0u00a0Isabella Reddan
