What is Mercy Day?
Mercy Day is a Feast Day at the College. where we acknowledge and celebrate the Sisters of Mercy, our heritage and those who have shaped the College into what we know today.
But it’s also a day of fun, and a day where students play an active part in fundraising. It’s the culmination of weeks of hard work and brainstorming in Homerooms, to come up with that perfect idea to raise money for Sister Denise Coghlan and the work she does in Cambodia. This year, Mercy Day raised an amazing $23,000.
Activities
This year there were some amazing activities for staff and students. These included:
- Mercy Day Mass said by Monsignor Keating
- Presentation of Hospitality Houses, Houses that each Homeroom had decorated in the theme of Hospitality
- Senior and Junior Dance Troupe performances
- A laughing choir
- Announcement of the Year 12 awards and the McAuley Shield – Congratulations Kelly House!
- Year 12 procession out of the hall with laughter and tears!
- Food stalls galore
- Games
- ‘Fresh from the Farm’ stall by our boarders
- Petting zoo
- Photo Booth
- Succulents for sale
- Silent Disco
- and far too many more to list.
