Year 12 Skype for the Hype Careers Presentations
Year 12s have been provided with the opportunity to hear from a number of current university students in a number of different courses from different universities via Skype sessions. Students are able to hear from university students in a casual and relaxed setting and ask them about their studies.
Our first presenter preferred a face to face chat over lunch and students who gathered were in for a treat. Megan Banting is a promising young cricket player who plays as a wicket-keeper and has made a hard-hitting debut in the WA cricket scene. Banting was signed for her first contract at just 16 and now holds two contracts, one with the WBBL Scorchers and the other with the WA Women’s Cricket Association. Megan was an academically strong student at high school and has continued her studies at Curtin and UWA. She has completed a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at UWA and is currently completing her second Bachelor’s degree in Social Work at Curtin University.
Year 12 cricketer Ella Mills said “Megan Banting was an inspirational speaker who role modelled well the balance of playing high-performance cricket at a national level while studying two demanding bachelor’s degrees. Her insight into the world of professional sport was valuable for aspiring female athletes who gathered to hear her. Her encouragement of maintaining a strong commitment to your tertiary studies was beneficial advice for future planning.”
These sessions are running each day this week at 1.00 pm in the Careers Centre. Below is a schedule of the upcoming sessions.
