In Australia, the average age of start-up founders is around 34.3 years old.

Age has been no boundary for Year 7 students Anna Doherty and Lily Pietersen, who have started their own business named L&A Music. Essentially, they create non-copyrighted music from scratch, which clients use for projects, videos and other social media content.

This concept came about after Mr King’s inspiring HASS class, which explored topics in the world of business including entrepreneurship, management and economics.

L&A Music combines music and technology, which Anna and Lily have always had a passion for.

“We’ve both grown up with music and creating it is something we love doing”, stated Lily.

“We thought we might as well give it a go and see where it takes us. Both Mr King and our parents were really encouraging”, added Anna.

Future clients head to the L&A Music website, where they fill out a form specifying the type of non-copyright music they desire. Once Anna and Lily confirm this order, they then begin working on the customised piece of music and send the finished product to their clients as soon as possible.

Anna and Lily already have three clients after launching their website just a few days ago.

In the future, the girls hope that L&A Music becomes recognised beyond the school community and around wider Perth.

We congratulate these girls on their start-up and wish them all the best in their future endeavours.
