OGA President Blog – May 2025

Following in Mary’s footsteps and her fantastic President blogs, I am delighted to be stepping into very fruitful shoes and writing to you as the Vice President of the Old Girls’ Association (OGA). It is a privilege.
May has been a quieter month for the OGA Committee, but that has not stopped us from brainstorming and planning for future events to bring our community together. One special highlight was delivering the generous donations from our March Movie Night to Zonta House.
If you have not encountered them, Zonta House is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to Empowering Women: Restoring Hope, Rebuilding Lives. When I introduced this charity to the Committee, I shared their powerful belief: “Every woman should be treated with utmost care and have access to choice, safety and dignity.”
This cause has long held a place in my heart. I remember collecting donations for Zonta during my time at SMC, so to deliver on behalf of the OGA now felt like a real full-circle moment.
From sanitary items to pantry staples, our community’s generosity truly shone. Thank you to every woman who joined us at the Movie Night and contributed so kindly. Your support makes a real difference.
The Committee will gather in June to plan the rest of the year’s events and projects. We are excited, inspired, and can not wait to share what’s coming next!
With Mary returning from her time abroad, I will now return the blog baton to her. Thanks for having me, and stay warm as we cosy into the winter months.
