The College annual Winter Appeal was a huge success. Staff, students and parents responded with generosity and compassion to the call for much needed donations.
The College has a long association with St Patrick’s Care in Fremantle, the Shopfront in Maylands, the Sister’s Place in Fremantle and the St Vincent de Paul Society. The Winter Appeal was launched on Outreach Day held on the 12 May, with lots of activities held at recess and lunch to get the appeal off to a fantastic start.
During the six-week long appeal, donations of cash, food, blankets, scarves, beanies, pyjamas, toiletries and socks were dropped off at the College, where student volunteers sorted and bagged the donations. The appeal culminated in our College Outreach Mass held on Wednesday, where the donations were presented to the various representatives from the four agencies.
The Fremantle Starlight Choir added to the event with their beautiful rendition of three popular songs with students and staff joining in. Students, staff and parents of Santa Maria College were commended by the agencies for the care, compassion and generosity shown to those doing it tough. Thank you to our College community for your outstanding commitment to the 2017 College value of Service and for responding with generosity to the call for donations.
