Peer Study Support for Students
This week our Study Buddies and Homework Heroes groups commenced for the year. These two programs provide academic mentoring for Years 5 & 6 and Years 7-9 students respectively.
The great thing is that both of these groups utilise the mentoring of our senior students. Year 10 volunteers assist the Years 5 and 6 Study Buddies and Year 11 students mentor students attending Homework Heroes.
Deputy Principal, Simone Sawiris, said that the number of girls putting their hand up to assist as mentors this year has been excellent.
‘We have 54 Year 10 volunteers and 23 Year 11 volunteers, who are keen to give girls in the younger years a helping hand. With a focus on compassion and collaboration this year, it a great way to bring these attributes to everyday life.’Â
As well as assisting students with their study and homework, forming new friendships and offering encouragement and support are an added bonus for girls in these programs.
Years 5 and 6 Study Buddies runs on Wednesday and Thursday 7.45 am – 8.30 am and Wednesday 3.30 pm – 4.15 pm in DG2.
Years 7 – 9 Homework Heroes runs on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons from 3.30 pm – 4.30 pm in the Plaza. The girls can see their Deans for further details if required.
