Presidents Report – April 2026

Dear fellow Alumni

At this stage, our SMC Old Girls’ Association Committee is approaching an extraordinary, interim meeting on 13 April, which we have scheduled to enable us to progress planning event ideas and tasks.  I am unable to confirm details at this stage, however hope to be able to do so in my May report.

I have just reviewed the “Take A Seat” campaign website, and note that seats in the new Cultural Centre continue to be steadily chosen and donations made. Thank you very much to all who have donated. There are still seats available for others who wish to do so. If you share the cost of a seat between alumni siblings, then it becomes a more manageable option.  It is of course an entirely voluntary expenditure, and I do understand that in the current climate, there are those who cannot afford to donate, or choose not to.

Please be alert to forthcoming advice about the Cultural Centre Alumni Opening Night in June. I am looking forward to having an early opportunity to view this magnificent new College asset.

I wish you all a restful period with family over Easter. This is a special time in the Catholic calendar, when we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ following the crucifixion. It marks a time of reassurance of eternal life.

Until my next report.

Warm regards

Mary Heavens | Old Girls’ Association President
