President’s Report – March 2021
Welcome to another edition of the OGA Blog.
After a tricky start to the year, it has been so nice to be able to gather once again and celebrate some special milestones at the College.
We were finally able to welcome back our high achievers from the Class of 2020 at the Achievers’ Assembly. This event is always a highlight, and a wonderful way to celebrate some of our newest OGA members.
Another highly anticipated event on this year’s calendar was our inaugural combined reunion, which saw more than 300 alumni from ten different classes return to the College. What a night it was! The atmosphere was incredible, and it was lovely to see the different year groups mingling with one another (including sisters, and even some mothers and daughters.) I hope you all had a fabulous night!
It’s certainly been a busy few weeks, and that excitement is set to continue this weekend with Encore, a celebration of 35 years of the Santa Maria College Theatre Arts Department. I know that everyone attending will enjoy the fabulous exhibition that has been curated from all of the amazing theatre productions over the years.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your continued support over the past year, through some very difficult times. I know many of you already do so much within the community, and it is on that note that I am so excited to launch the OGA’s Project of Mercy Grant. The successful applicant will receive up to $5,000 to help them to undertake a planned project of their choosing, with the primary focus of helping those less fortunate within the community. You can find all of the details in this newsletter.
We’re so excited to see your applications and learn about all of the wonderful work our alumni are doing in the community.
