Records Broken at Athletics Carnival

With a double rainbow appearing over the track as our starter announced “On you Marks” we knew the 2024 Interhouse Athletics Carnival was going to be an exciting one.
With over 360 events spanning including pre-carnival events, there was certainly something for everyone. We have some exceptionally talented athletes at Santa Maria, and we love watching them shine at the WA Athletics Stadium as they vie for valuable House Points to go towards the 2024 McAuley Shield.

There was virtually no one in the stands once our events get underway with our girls supporting each other at various events and participating in their own. It can be argued that the north-west corner of the stadium is the place to be as Houses vie for points in the team game events. With so many exceptional performances all around the stadium it’s a busy day for supporters as well as our students.
We must thank our House Coordinators who work tirelessly to rally the troops to fill all events and bring so much enthusiasm and organisation to the day. They can’t do this without the wonderful support of their House Captains whose energy and passion inspire their Houses to perform at their best.
Finally, a thank you to all our staff, coaches, spectators and particularly our Physical Education staff who braved the occasional rain shower to support this event and make it the wonderful success that it was.
Whilst all students are to be congratulated for displaying excellence, we must make special mention of the following students who broke records and won Champion athlete awards for their efforts on the day.
