Ruby Takes to the Crown Stage
We are incredibly proud to share that Year 6 student Ruby has been cast as one of the young performers sharing the role of Little Anastasia in the Perth performances of Anastasia the Musical, performing at Crown Theatre this March.
Ruby was “so surprised and excited” when she found out she had secured the role.
“I’m looking forward to being on stage at Crown Theatre and meeting the amazing actors,” she said.
This marks Ruby’s first major theatre role, a remarkable achievement for such a young performer. She will share the role with three other talented Perth girls, performing in eight shows and backstage, ready to step in if needed for a further seven performances. Ruby’s first show is on 4 March, with her season concluding on 28 March, performing across a mix of matinee and evening shows.
Preparing for a production of this scale is no small commitment. Ruby has embraced a full schedule of rehearsals and costume fittings, with some rehearsals finishing as late as 10.30 pm.
“I love that I get to do the three things that make me happy – dance, sing and act,” Ruby said.
To balance rehearsals with school and other commitments, Ruby has temporarily reduced her dance commitments outside of school.
“I’m going to be very busy, but I feel so lucky to have this opportunity.”
Anastasia the Musical tells the story of Grand Duchess Anastasia Romanov and is inspired by the much-loved animated film.
We congratulate Ruby on this outstanding achievement and look forward to cheering her on as she takes to the stage.
