Santa Maria Wins School Award at Lester Youth Awards
Congratulations to Year 9 student, Alice Handcock, who was a finalist in the 2019 Lester Youth Art Awards.
Santa Maria College were winners of the School Award in the Years 7 – 9 category, winning a workshop with a professional Lester Prize Adult Finalist, thanks to the generosity of the Squire Patton Boggs Youth Art Foundation.
Head of Visual Arts, Jan Withers said, “I was thrilled to receive the school award this year. It will be a wonderful opportunity for the current Year 9 students going on to study Visual Art in Year 10 to participate in this exciting workshop early next year. Working with an artist of this calibre will be an exciting experience for these budding young artists. It was also an outstanding achievement for Alice to be selected as a finalist, as it is an Australia wide competition”.
