Santa4Santa Day – A Celebration of Compassion and Christmas Cheer
The true spirit of Christmas is not found in presents under a tree but in the kindness shown to others, something that shines brightly within our community. Nowhere is this more evident than on Santa4Santa Day, a joyful celebration where our students and staff come together to raise funds and awareness for those in need.
This year’s event was a vibrant showcase of service, creativity and community, with every dollar raised supporting St Vincent de Paul, Shopfront and St Patrick’s Community Centre in Fremantle.
A Campus Full of Festive Energy
Santa hats, festive earrings, and splashes of red and green filled the Mercy Walk, which was buzzing with laughter and Christmas cheer.
Student groups embraced the opportunity to give back, organising a range of fun and festive stalls:
- Just Leadership: Lolly bags, a card game challenge, chocolate throw and lunchtime pizza
- Young Mercies: Selling sour straps with a smile
- Ministry Team: Running Christmas Bingo and a gingerbread stall
- Vinnies: Serving up the ever-popular hot chips
- Seeds of Justice: Holding a raffle of fair-trade and eco-friendly goodies
- Year 6 IGNITE: Sharing their handmade shortbread biscuits

Year 12 Ministry Captain Naomi reflected on the impact of the day, highlighting the sense of unity and purpose it creates:
“Everyone is truly in the Christmas spirit – there is an infectious sense of giving and sisterhood, and it is incredible to experience such a positive atmosphere. I love how everyone comes together to support those in need and keep them in mind while celebrating all that we have to be grateful for.”
Giving That Goes Beyond the Day
Santa4Santa Day is just one part of our annual Christmas Appeal, which continues through until Friday 27 November. Homerooms and Student Services are still collecting donations, everything from pantry staples to toiletries, to be gifted at our end-of-year Christmas Mass. These donations provide essential support for local families doing it tough.
Service Captain Olivia summed it up beautifully, “We love Santa4Santa Day because it brings our school community together for a purpose bigger than ourselves, spreading joy and giving back to those who may not experience the same Christmas spirit.”
Living Our Mercy Values
Events like this embody our Mercy values of Compassion, Service and Hospitality, as students take action to support others in meaningful ways. From organising stalls to baking, budgeting and promoting the cause, students are developing real-world skills while growing in empathy and leadership.

A Community That Cares
The true magic of Santa4Santa Day lies in the way it brings our community together. Whether you donated a can of food or money, volunteered on a stall or simply purchased some hot chips, your support made a difference. Thank you.
We are so proud of our students and grateful to our staff, parents and extended community for their generosity.
Together, we are helping to make Christmas a little brighter for those who need it most.
There is Still Time to Donate
View the Christmas Appeal wish list and bring items to Student Services or Homerooms before Friday 28 November.
