Santa4Santa Day – Celebrating Community Spirit & Generosity
At Santa Maria College, our commitment to service and compassion shines brightest during the holiday season, thanks to our Santa4Santa Day and Christmas Appeal. Each year, Santa4Santa Day brings students and staff together to celebrate the spirit of giving, raising vital support for those who need it most through a variety of stalls and fun activities. This year, Staff and students were invited to wear Santa hats and earrings to show their support and encourage the festive spirit.
A Day of Joy and Giving
The campus was filled with laughter, smiles, and a shared sense of purpose. Service Captain Carissa Allen perfectly captured the essence of the day, sharing, “As Christmas approaches, it’s easy to get caught up in our own wish lists and the material aspects of the season. But for the homeless and families facing financial hardships, the holiday season can be a difficult time. Santa4Santa Day is our chance to shift our focus outward and embrace the spirit of giving.”
Overwhelming Support
The annual Christmas Appeal has seen incredible generosity, but it’s not over yet. Donations are being collected in Homerooms and at Student Services until Monday 25 November. Students will then organise and prepare the contributions for presentation to the charities we are supporting, at our Christmas Mass. You can view the items our charities have requested here if you would like to make a donation.
Making a Difference
During Santa4Santa Day students are reminded how even the smallest act of kindness can create a ripple effect throughout the community. Funds raised are directed to St Vincent de Paul, Shopfront, and St Patrick’s Community Centre in Fremantle, supporting their mission to spread Christmas cheer to families facing challenges. Each contribution, from cans of food to simple toiletries, plays a role in brightening someone’s Christmas.
A Legacy of Compassion
Santa4Santa Day reinforces why such events are so important. They not only cultivate compassion but also create lasting memories that shape students into proactive, empathetic members of society.
As we reflect on the success of Santa4Santa Day, we are filled with gratitude. Our community’s willingness to step up and make a difference reaffirms that the values we uphold are more than words; they are actions that resonate throughout our lives.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to make this year’s event such a great day!
