Silver Screen Awards Hit Santa Maria

Santa Maria College was taken over by film stars and paparazzi this week, as the third annual Silver Screen Awards was held in the College Theatre. These awards celebrate the filmmaking talents of our girls.

The girls dressed up as their favourite movie characters and paraded up the red carpet to a fun photo booth and movie-themed snacks.

It was great to see the high quality of films and talent on display. The media-based subjects on offer at Santa Maria, give lots of opportunities for girls to develop creativity, perseverance and storytelling. We are very excited as to what next year may bring!

2020 Media Captain, Hannah Ward said, “The Silver Screen Awards is a fantastic event where students present their work to an audience who are engaged with media and technology. Students are able to present the amazing projects they have created throughout the year to a supportive audience. The night was a great success and very entertaining. It was my privilege to be a part of the process and the final event and I extend my gratitude to everyone involved with both running and attending the night. Just remember, the only limitation is your imagination!”

Year 9 student Zoe Bolden reflected, “The Silver Screen Awards was an amazing fun-filled night that contained games, awards and of course lots of films. Everyone dressed up as either their favourite movie character or in fancy dress, which made the night so much better. I cannot wait for next year’s awards!”
