Santa Maria Students Showcase Talent at Ensemble Concert

Last night, each of the ensembles of the Co-curricular Music Program performed a fantastic two-hour showcase of the repertoire they have been working on for the past 12 weeks.

Students from Years 5 to 12 performed throughout the evening, with a wide variety of music performed – from Mozart to 80s hits, to jazz classics and current pop music arrangements. The concert opened with the larger ensembles including the Concert Band, McAuley Concert Band, String Orchestra and McMahon String Ensemble, followed by the smaller instrumental groups – Flute Choir and Quartet, Saxophone Ensemble and the Guitar Ensemble. The Swing Band completed the program with a high energy performance. All of the performers are to be congratulated on a standout performance.

Thanks to the wonderful audience of family and friends who came along to support the students. We now look forward to our annual Music Camp towards the end of this term, where students get the chance to learn new repertoire and come together as a music community for four days of intensive rehearsal and the camp finale concert.
