So Good To Be Me: Year 10 Reflection Day

‘Embody love – So Good to be Me’ was the theme for our Year 10 Reflection Day held recently at the College. The day fosters a sense of community and togetherness among our students. Reflection Days offer our students a valuable opportunity for self-reflection, spiritual growth, and meaningful connections. This event was facilitated by our dedicated Religious Education staff and Year 10 Dean Peter Hanbidge.

Exploring the Theme: Embody Love – So Good to Be Me!

The focus of this year’s Reflection Day was on embracing and embodying love. Not just feeling it but being it. The theme encouraged our students to love themselves and their world through acceptance, presence, and open-heartedness. It was a day to understand and internalise that they are deeply loved, worthy of love, and have always been loved. The ultimate message was clear: love yourself because you are enough.

Reflection and Connection

Students engaged in various activities designed to encourage introspection and discussion. The day’s sessions included:

  • Love is Actually All Around Us: How can we embody universal love and how we can embody that more fully in our lives?
  • I am Because We Are: To accept self in relationship to others and strengthen the common bonds in Year 10
  • Being Youer the You: Letting go of expectations and cultivating self-love.
  • Holding Space for You and I: To grow in compassion for ourselves and others.
  • Embody Love: To be open to the possibility of expanding in love so that we might be love in a more powerful way for ourselves and others.

Key Messages and Takeaways

Students were inspired not only to feel divine love but to become it in their daily lives. They gained an understanding that they are inherently worthy of love and have always been loved. Additionally, they learned to love themselves for who they are, fostering a healthy sense of self-esteem.

The Embody Love Program

The Embody Love program is a unique initiative designed to help Year 10 students explore and connect with the cosmic force of universal love. It encourages them to ask essential questions:

  • How can we embody love more fully in our lives?
  • How can we align with this energy and let it flow through us, enriching our interactions and personal growth?
  • How can we become love in our daily lives?

As our Year 10 students continue their journey through school and beyond, they are encouraged to remember that love is not just something we seek but something we are. By embracing and embodying love, we tap into a powerful source of joy and creativity, creating a future filled with infinite possibilities.

Voices from the Day

Here are some reflections from our Year 10 students:

“Reflection day was an amazing day spent with friends and teachers, reflecting on ourselves and our relationships with others. I think it allowed our cohort to consider and experience the love of not only ourselves but of others, too. I enjoyed Reflection Day as we had a mixture of different tasks and activities like creativity and discussion, all leading to the understanding of embodying love.” Chloe

“I thoroughly enjoyed Reflection Day because it brought us together as a year group, providing a special opportunity for everyone to relax and think about our actions towards others. It helped us understand how to be more compassionate and understanding while also teaching us the importance of self-care. Additionally, we learned not to let stereotypes define us specifically towards our bodies, which I find is especially important with the rise of social media and its negative influences.” Ella

“The Year 10 Reflection Day was such a good day as we got a chance to reflect on our friendships and love ourselves and others. We got to have a break from school to learn new things about ourselves and other people in our society, we also learned to accept ourselves and all other people around us.” Sophie

“The Year 10 Reflection Day was a very fun day because not only could I have fun with my friends and become closer to new people, but I learned about the importance of love and loving ourselves and others. The activities were engaging and helped us understand what love means. They also taught us new skills.” Lily

“Reflection Day was a rewarding experience that taught me a lot about myself and others. I enjoyed interacting with people I don’t usually connect with, and I discovered many new perspectives about love.” Siena

“Reflection Day was an enlightening experience, and the program helped me understand myself a bit better. I got to work with people that I don’t usually interact with, and the activities were fun and engaging, teaching me about ways to love others and myself.” Bethany

Thank you to our Religious Education team for delivering this wonderful program. Reflection Day was a special day for both students and staff. It provided our students with the tools and insights needed to embody love in their lives. It was a day of growth, connection, and profound learning, reinforcing the importance of self-acceptance and universal love.
