Spreading the Love this Valentine’s Day

It’s that time of year again… Valentine’s Day!

A day to celebrate anything and anyone you love and cherish, whether it be family members, friends, teachers, coaches, your pet, or perhaps even yourself!

This week, our Languages Department is spreading the love in celebration of Valentine’s Day with over 400 students.

Each of the girls are receiving Valentine’s Day wishes in both languages, Italian and French, accompanied by intricate heart-shaped candy.

The Languages Department also launched their new display window in honour of the special day.

“The idea behind the Languages display window is to bring a sense of fun from France and Italy to us here at Santa Maria College!”, said Connie Quattrini, Head of Languages.

The first themed window for this year is Emily in Paris, featuring all things French, from crystal glasses and macaroons to Louis Vuitton and Chanel.

“It’s February and since Paris is the city of love, we thought what a fantastic theme to start the year as well as highlight St Valentine’s Day.”

The theme was a massive hit amongst students and generated lots of foot traffic through the Mercy Building. It was a great way to shed some light on the beauty of French culture!

Connie added, “Our aim throughout the year will be to choose other famous sights around the world and transform our space into a magical place so that everyone can be transported there and share our journey.”

A massive congratulations and thank you to the Languages Department, as well as students Niamh Smithies, Abby Young, Sascha Finlay-Collins and Dilara Wijesinghe, for executing such a fantastic project!

We look forward to seeing what the next theme will be.
