Students Fuel Their Day With Power Bowls

Home Economics classes have always been known for teaching practical skills in the kitchen, and today’s students are no exception. In a recent class, students were tasked with creating their own nutritious power bowls.
What is a power bowl? It is a dish made up of a combination of healthy foods like vegetables, fruits, grains, and protein sources. Power bowls are not only delicious but also highly nutritious and provide the body with sustained energy throughout the day.
The students were first given individual assignments to investigate and evaluate their power bowls. They had to consider factors like taste, texture, nutritional value, and presentation. After conducting their research, they were then put into pairs to design, plan, and produce their own unique power bowls.

The power bowls produced by the students were a feast for the eyes and the taste buds. They contained a variety of colourful vegetables like capsicum, snow peas, radishes, cauliflower, edamame beans, cucumber, and carrot, paired with proteins from pulses and a rissole or fritter made in a previous lesson. The bowls also featured healthy grains like quinoa, millet, pearl barley or brown rice, adding an element of heartiness to the dish. Finally, a drizzle of dressing was added, also created by the students, making the flavours come to life.
Overall, the students not only had a great time creating their power bowls, but they also learned valuable lessons in healthy eating. Power bowls are an easy and fun way to incorporate a variety of nutritious foods into your diet, and they can be easily customised to suit individual preferences and dietary needs.

So, the next time you’re looking for a quick and healthy meal, why not consider creating your own power bowl? With so many different combinations of flavours and textures, the possibilities are endless!
