Gap Students in Boarding

Every six months, four GAP students arrive to work at Santa Maria College. Placed by Letz Live, the students undergo training in Brisbane before coming to begin their time with us.

Sixth Year of Run For A Reason

A large group of boarders will participate in the HBF Run for a Reason this Sunday.  The girls will wear orange in support of the Leukemia Foundation and in remembrance of former Head of Boarding, Linda Bulloch.
Year 12 student Ellie Lee, has been involved each year, since she started at Santa Maria. She recently had an article about her participation included in the Midwest Times.

Boarders Attend Their Own Royal Wedding

The Boarders celebrated the recent royal wedding with a very special wedding reception all of our own.  The girls were extremely creative in coming up with costumes to attend the royal wedding and prizes were awarded to the best dressed.

Boarding Leaders’ Network at Santa Maria

Recently, Santa Maria College hosted a Year 12 Boarding Leaders’ dinner to promote camaraderie and networking. Over 90 leaders from 15 boarding colleges throughout Perth gathered in the Recreation Centre to appreciate the view of the Swan River, share drinks and cheese, and engage in conversation and networking with other leaders.

Melbourne Cup Fun in Boarding

The Boarding Leaders organised a Melbourne Cup Hat Dinner on the evening preceeding the Cup this week. Most of the girls and staff entered into the spirit of the event and winners of the best hats were announced.

Final Day in Boarding

On Thursday the last official day for Year 12 students was celebrated at the College. The girls in Boarding dressed in a range of costumes for the start of the day.

6 Boarding Teams in Netball Grand Finals

In a huge effort, six of our eight boarding netball teams made it through into the Grand Final. The Junior C4 Team  and the under 17 team were both victorious taking the premiership medal in each division.

Orange Reigns in Boarding!

During Mercy Day, all of the boarding students wore an orange hair ribbon, which is the colour of the Leukaemia foundation. The girls processed into the McDonald Building together during Mass this morning as a mark of remembrance for Linda Bulloch, Head of Boarding, who passed away twelve months ago.

Christmas in July

Christmas came early to boarding this year with a Christmas in July Dinner. Many of the girls enjoyed the opportunity to get dressed up in tinsel and Christmas decorations, as gifts and as Santa Claus and his friends.

New to Boarding

We have two new Year 8 students in Boarding this term. We welcome Alex Cole into Sylvester House and Manow Smith into Catherine House. This term we also welcome two new GAP students from South Africa, Palesa Tshesane and Alex Jordaan.

Cruising on the Swan

Year 10 students recently attended a river cruise hosted by St. Hilda’s School for Girls, where they got to mingle with students from other boarding schools across Perth.
