The 2023 Chorale Concert consisted of wonderful performances from Years 5 to 12 Choirs and the AcaMaria’s vocal group.
In their meeting today, the Social Justice Group, a co-curricular group for students in Years 10-12, wrote letters to their Federal Members of Parliament, calling for action on the issue of the offshore processing of asylum seekers.
Pubbles is the media publishing co-curricular group. This week, our Media Captain, Georgia Piggott, ran a session on portraiture with Pubbles girls.

Each week, a number of Santa Maria students head off to Carinya Nursing Home in Bicton to spend their afternoons with the elderly. They do this as part of the co-curricular service program.

Reading books, for many children, is sadly declining. At Santa Maria, we are trying to turn that around. Recently, as part of Book Week, parents and students were invited to a special reading night in the Sawle Centre, where parents brought along their favourite childhood books to share with their daughter.
Pubbles is our media publishing co-curricular group at Santa Maria College. The group consists of students in Years 7-12 and they produce graphics, posters and digital art and also take photos at College events.
Year 11 student, Maddisyn O’Grady has made it to the final of the ‘Speak for Faith’ competition following her speech on injustice for asylum seekers in Australia.
Billie Mincham recently won gold at the WA Schools Sports Primary School Championships. She competed in the Year 6 event, running 2500m.
A number of Santa Maria College students have been challenging themselves, achieving goals and reaching out into the wider community, as part of the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
Recently 40 girls in Years 7 and 8 completed the Balance Program. This program presents information on a number of different topics around wellbeing. It was lovely to see the students engage in each of the sessions to discuss and explore the topics presented. The girls enjoyed mixing with students in other Year groups and building relationships with each other.

Dolphin Watch 2017 has well and truly started at Santa Maria College. Joselyn Juraszek from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Visitor Attractions was invited to the College on Tuesday evening to chat to our ever-growing group of Mini Ladies in Lab Coats.
The SMC Comets (Level 2) and SMC Gravity (Level 1) cheerleading teams competed at the Cheer Unlimited Australia (CUA) Rock N Cheer Championships at HBF Arena.
In March the College hosted a concert with bands from Years 9 to 12 performing work from artists like Fleetwood Mac and Smash Mouth.
