Jesus Was A Refugee

The Social Justice co-curricular group, ran a storytelling and activity session for Year 6 students this week, focussing on the theme “Jesus was a Refugee”.

Students Attend Homeless Reflection Evening

Students from Years 10 – 12 were invited to spend part of their Friday night at the College last week, learning more about the plight of the homeless. Over 40 girls participated in the Young Vinnies Homeless Reflection Evening.

Year 10 student Sophie Krummenacher, chose to complete her service hours at two different agencies, allowing her to experience a wider range of service opportunities.

NAIDOC Day Celebrations

Each year at Santa Maria College we recognise NAIDOC Day. It is our opportunity to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Punmu Immersion Experience

After a flight to Port Hedland, Santa Maria students and staff made the 650 km trek to this remote indigenous community for our 13th visit to Punmu!

Service at Santa Maria

Students in Years 5 -11 are required to do service hours as part of the Christian Service-Learning Program at the College. We asked three Year 10 students, who have done their hours for the Christian Service-Learning Program with very different organisations about their service and how important it is.

Students Visit The Elderly

Each week, a number of Santa Maria students head off to Carinya Nursing Home in Bicton to spend their afternoons with the elderly. They do this as part of the co-curricular service program.

Year 10s from the Seeds of Justice program participated in fun activities with students from the Intensive English Centre to further their exploration into the issue of asylum seekers and refugees

The Santa Maria College Cambodia immersion is designed to expose students to both cultural and service experiences in the cities of Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. At the conclusion of the 2018 school year, 15 graduate students and three staff left for the amazing Kingdom of Cambodia.
