We had the privilege of hosting students for the Year 5 JIGSSA Swimming Carnival on Tuesday 14 March, with Year 6 students visiting St Hilda’s on Thursday 16 March for their carnival.

The IGSSA Athletics Carnival is approaching fast and the girls are training hard. Last year saw the College beaten by only nine points to Penrhos, which has really spurred the girls on this year. This year’s carnival is on 11 September.
For the second year, Santa Maria College held a First XI hockey match against the Como Hockey Academy team. The Santa Maria hockey staff chose the students to play in this match based on performance throughout the season, as well as long-running participation in the hockey program.
After last week’s AFL curtain raiser game at the Eagles vs Essendon game, we asked some of the girls about their experience.
History was made on Thursday night when the Santa Maria College boarders AFL squad took on the Perth College boarder team at Optus Stadium. A lot of pride was on the line in this curtain raiser before the Eagles/Essendon and both teams showed exceptional skills and attack at the footy.
This week, our Years 7 & 8 A and B netball teams played an invitation game against teams from Dulwich College in Singapore as part of a netball tour to Perth.
After a stormy week, the weather was kind to us and we had a wonderful afternoon for the IGSSA Cross Country last Friday. The girls had been training hard since Term 1 and were following a different program this year to increase their speed around the course.
