Meet Our Talented Visual Arts Team

With each member of the Visual Arts team a practising artist themselves, it is no wonder that many of our students are selected to exhibit at the Year 12 Perspectives each year.

Welcoming Sister Breda

Santa Maria would like to introduce, and welcome Mercy Sister, Sr Breda O’Reilly to the College this year. Sister Breda will be at the College one day a week to talk to staff and students, to visit the sick, to give talks when needed and to support the Santa Maria Community at all times. 

Meet Tim Stewart, College Business Manager

In November 2018, Jim Watkins, College Business Manager of  12 years, retired. Stepping into this demanding position is Tim Stewart. Tim comes to the College from the University of Western Australia, where he held the position of Faculty General Manager, Faculty of Arts.

Molly Most Industry Ready Graduate!

Congratulations to Molly Werner, our Costume Co-ordinator, who recently won two prizes at her Graduate Art Exhibition. Molly is a Fine Arts and History Major at the UWA School of Design and received the following awards at the Exhibition opening on Friday Night

Students Learn About Migration First Hand

Year 6 students have been looking at migration, especially from England after WW2, with the assisted migration scheme. Head of Humanities & Social Science, Mr Stephen King, spoke to the girls this week about the story of his family and what it is like to be a ‘Ten Pound Pom’.

Running for Jai

This weekend is the HBF Run for a Reason and a group of Santa Maria staff will be running the 12 kilometres. Their reason is Jai!

Fearless and Empowerment

Rebecca Ewing, Santa Maria College English teacher, recently presented at the Alliance of Girls’ Schools Australasia conference in Adelaide. Young people, sexuality and the influence of pornography were key areas of discussion at the conference ‘Fearless Girls. Strong Women.’
