Congratulations Sascha

Congratulations to Year 7 student, Sascha Finlay-Collins, who has been selected to participate in the Mathematics Problem Solving Program for 2019. After encouragement from the College, Sascha applied and was selected after answering a series of mathematical challenges.

Grace to Play Cricket for Western Australia

Congratulations to Year 7 student, Grace Freeman, who has been selected to represent Western Australia in the 2018 Cricket 12s team. The team will be competing at the School Sport Australia National Championships in Bunbury in December.

Hannah Finishes Off a Great Year of Diving

Continuing on with her success earlier this year, Hannah Min Oo has rounded off her first year as a competitive diver for Western Australia with a fantastic finish to the competition season with an outstanding result in the School Sport Championships for WA in Diving.

Chloe Is Heading to Los Angeles

Chloe Sayers’, currently in Year 7 at Santa Maria College, acting skills have landed her an amazing opportunity in Los Angeles (LA), California with The Celebrity Experience.

Girls Win Gold at Aussie Cheerleading Competition

Throughout the school year, the Santa Maria College cheerleading teams Gravity and Supernova have been training hard in the lead up to the annual Aussie Gold International Cheer and Dance Championships on the Gold Coast, Queensland.

Congratulations to Year 10 student, Erin Turner, who spent the school holidays in Victoria where she represented Western Australia in the 2018 Marcus Oldham Interschool Equestrian National Championships.

Hard Work Paying Off For Chloe

Chloe William’s hard work and commitment and most of all her love for tennis are definitely paying off. We wrote about Chloe and her love of tennis back in March after she competed at the Esperance Junior Open.
During the recent school holidays, Chloe competed in two tournaments with great results.

2018 Catholic Performing Arts Festival Results

During July and August, the annual Catholic Performing Arts Festival took place in various performance venues across the metropolitan area. A number of instrumental and vocal students from Santa Maria College participated in this event and were commended by the adjudicators for their performances

Students to Play Water Polo in Hobart

Congratulations to Jessica Craig (Year 9), Macy Sicree (Year 9), Charlie Rega (Year 9) and Megan Cranley (Year 10) who have been selected to play for the Melville Water Polo Club at the 16 & Under National Club Championships in Hobart in the holidays.

Cheerleading Champions

Nearly 70 girls competed at the AASCF State Cheerleading Championships on Saturday at HBF Stadium. The College had four teams compete with students from Years 5 – 12. It was a great day and the girls had a lot of fun and performed amazing routines in very competitive divisions.

Jemima Second in National Final

A huge congratulations to Year 12 student, Jemima Reid, who came second recently in the National final of the Plain English Speaking Award held in Darwin. We reported here a few weeks ago about Jemima’s state win. 

Hello Petal!

Congratulations to Year 9 students Vienne Seneque, Olivia Palmiero and Lucy Kilroe who received a Highly Commended in the 2018 Perth Craft Show for their textiles project based on a theme of ‘Hello Petal’ inspired by designers Viktor and Rolfe.  

Students Chosen for State Hockey Team

Congratulations to Hannah Carmody Year 7, Scarlett Huston Year 7 and Alicia Tory Year 8 who have been selected in the State Under 13 Hockey team. The girls will be travelling to Hobart in early October.

Tayah Medlen (Year 11) has recently returned from Adelaide where she was representing Western Australia in the Country Women’s Hockey Team.

Students Selected for National Youth Science Forum

Year 11 students Stephanie Tory and Madeleine Haines have been selected to participate in the National Youth Science Forum (NYSF). This is a not-for-profit organisation, which runs a series of residential programs encouraging young people to pursue their passion for science.   

Claudia Bound For Barcelona

We’d like to congratulate Year 5 student, Claudia Heinzle who was chosen as one of the top 12 players for Australia (in age groups born in 2006, 2007 and 2008). Claudia has been invited to Barcelona in March 2019, to play with players from Australia and compete against players from all over the world. 

Jemima WA PESA Finalist

Jemima Reid (Year 12), recently won the Western Australian final of the Plain English Speaking Award (PESA). She will now travel to Darwin in August to compete in the National Competition against the best from each state.
