Junior School Dip Their Toes Into IGSSA Swimming
We had the privilege of hosting students for the Year 5 JIGSSA Swimming Carnival on Tuesday 14 March, with Year 6 students visiting St Hilda’s on Thursday 16 March for their carnival.

It’s been a very busy week for Years 5 & 6 this week, with Open Night and Grandparents’ Morning. The girls have loved showing off their classrooms and their work.
Some of our Year 6 girls found some really creative ways to repurpose plastic bottles this week.
Last night, a selected group of our Years 5 and 6 girls competed in the annual JIGSSA Twilight Swimming Carnival at HBF Stadium.
Our Year 6 students enjoyed reflecting on and celebrating their primary years at their Reflection Day last Friday.

As a celebration of finishing the novel ‘Mahtab’s Story’ by Libby Gleeson, Year 6 students enjoyed an afternoon flying kites on the oval.
Billie Mincham recently won gold at the WA Schools Sports Primary School Championships. She competed in the Year 6 event, running 2500m.
Last week, the Year 6 students and staff caught the coach to Dwellingup to the Dare Adventures Camp site for our first camp together. The girls had a fantastic time, some away from home for the first time. We didn’t waste any time and were straight into the activities that afternoon.
Year 6 students have been researching Australians on the National Trust’s Living Treasures list.
Today the Year 6 girls along with their teachers and families commenced their Celebration Day with a wonderful Mass celebrated by Fr Hugh.
Dolphin Watch 2017 has well and truly started at Santa Maria College. Joselyn Juraszek from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Visitor Attractions was invited to the College on Tuesday evening to chat to our ever-growing group of Mini Ladies in Lab Coats.
The Year 6 IGNITE class exploded with creativity recently during their study of Kings Court.
Our Year 6 students have been looking at the world as a village of 100 people, and looking at data trends over seven years. They were asked the question ‘What areas in the village do you think will see the greatest change in the next seven years? How and why will they change?’
Spark6 is a program for Year 6 students, which encourages students to form an opinion and make decisions and then give evidence to support their point of view.
As part of their Health Education our Year 6 students have been learning the value of positivity and seeking out the good in their worlds.
