Take the Leap – How Ciara’s Disney Dream Came True

Since graduating from Santa Maria College in 2020, Ciara Sadler has been on an incredible adventure. She’s performed on Perth’s biggest stages, studied abroad in Ireland, completed a Law and Music degree, and even helped guests fly the Millennium Falcon at Walt Disney World.
From musicals at school to making magic in Florida, Ciara’s journey proves that when you follow your passions, amazing things can happen.
Law, Music & Life on Stage
After finishing school, Ciara headed straight into a double major in Law and Classical Vocal Performance at the University of Western Australia.
Many in the College community will remember her starring roles in Santa Maria musicals and choir. It’s no surprise that her talent led to performances with the West Australian Opera and WA Symphony Orchestra during her university years.
“Studying classical voice gave me so many opportunities,” Ciara says. “It was amazing to perform around Perth while also pursuing law.”
In 2023, Ciara took her studies overseas, joining a university exchange program at University College Dublin. There, she studied early Irish law, learned Gaelic, and explored traditional Irish music. She also joined the Gaiety School of Acting, where she trained with performers from all over the world.
“I loved working with people from different backgrounds,” she shares. “It really pushed me creatively.”
A Disney Dream Come True

As a child, Ciara spent time living in the US and has fond memories of visiting Walt Disney World. So, when she came across the Disney Cultural Exchange Program for international university students, she jumped at the chance to apply.
“Disney is all about creating unforgettable experiences,” she says. “I wanted to help make those moments for other families.”
Her first role was as a recreation attractions host at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort, where she ran guest activities like fishing, bike rides, and poolside games. The New Orleans theme made it especially meaningful, Ciara had lived nearby as a child.
Later, she was placed at Hollywood Studios, working in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge on the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run ride. In full character, she helped guests climb aboard the legendary ship and taught them how to ‘fly’ it.
“Seeing their excitement never got old,” she says. “I got to be part of their story. It was such a special feeling.”
Learning Behind the Magic
During her time with Disney, Ciara completed over 90 hours of professional development through Disney’s training programs. She earned certifications playfully titled Mousters and Ducktorates, covering areas like leadership, storytelling and career readiness.
A major highlight was being selected to perform in the cast choir for the EPCOT Candlelight Processional, a spectacular Christmas event featuring celebrity narrators such as Whoopi Goldberg, Josh Gad, and Gloria Estefan.
“Performing in front of thousands of guests was surreal,” Ciara says. “It’s something I’ll never forget.”
But it wasn’t just the stage moments that stood out.
“The friendships were the real magic,” she adds. “I met incredible people from around the world, and those connections will stay with me.”
Home Again – And Giving Back
Now back in Perth, Ciara has started her Juris Doctor (postgraduate law degree) at UWA. Her dream is to work in entertainment law, blending her love for storytelling and advocacy.
“During my internship, I got to connect with entertainment lawyers at Disney,” she says. “That really inspired me to see what’s possible.”
Despite her busy schedule, Ciara made time to return to Santa Maria College earlier this year. She stepped in to stage manage and direct the music for the College’s production of Playing Beatie Bow.
“It felt so good to be back,” she says. “Being involved in the arts at Santa Maria shaped so much of who I am. I’m grateful I had the chance to give back.”
Ciara’s Advice?
“Take the leap. You never know where it could lead”.
From opera houses to outer space, Ciara has followed her passions with purpose and heart. Her story is a wonderful reminder that success looks different for everyone, and that dreaming big can lead to extraordinary things.
