Teaching and Learning in 2026: Making Time for Learning

In 2026, our Teaching and Learning focus is Time for Learning, a College-wide commitment to ensuring every lesson is purposeful, engaging and inclusive, and that classroom time is used in ways that have the greatest impact on student learning.

This work is supported through a partnership with the Association of Independent Schools of Western Australia (AISWA), who will deliver High Impact Practices (HIPs) 2.0 professional learning for our teachers. The program is grounded in educational research and neuroscience and focuses on clear lesson design, student engagement, inclusive practices and strategies that support deep learning. Importantly, the learning is practical and immediately applicable in the classroom.

To strengthen instructional leadership across the College, Heads of Learning Area participated in a dedicated professional learning session during January Staff Week. This session focused on developing a shared understanding of effective teaching practice and building leaders’ capacity to support high-quality learning in their learning areas.

Across the year, teachers will engage in a cycle of goal-setting, reflection and refinement as part of the College’s professional learning program. This ongoing work will contribute to the development of a shared College Instructional Model, providing a clear and consistent approach to teaching that supports student growth and learning excellence.
