Technology & Commerce Day 2025 – A Celebration of Innovation and Imagination

What do drones, memes, binary bracelets and VR headsets have in common? They all came together this week for one spectacular day of discovery, creativity and fun.

Technology & Commerce Day was a full-campus celebration of innovation, imagination and hands-on learning. The event gave students from every year group the chance to explore the future of tech, business and design, and to realise they already have a role in shaping it.

A Playground for Future Innovators

Corners of the College were transformed into an experience zone. From digital design to drone flying, the activities were as varied as the students who took part. Here’s a taste of what was on offer:

  • The Game Bus turned teamwork into fun and friendly competition.
  • Drone-flying sessions let students test their skills in precision and coordination.
  • Virtual Reality (VR) opened doors to immersive digital adventures.
  • Binary Bracelets let creativity and coding collide in wearable tech art.
  • Sticker Station unleashed a wave of colour and self-expression.
  • The MEME Competition brought the giggles and some clever digital wit.
  • Photography Contest captured the magic of the day through student lenses.
  • Robotics Demos showcased the power of coding, innovation and problem-solving.
  • 3D Printing Stations turned digital ideas into real-world models.
  • QR Code Scavenger Hunt got everyone moving and thinking.
  • “Pull Apart a Computer” was a hands-on deep dive into tech we use every day.

And of course, there were giveaways and prizes throughout the day, because a bit of extra motivation never hurts!

There were lots of attractions and activities, and I really enjoyed the VR (Virtual Reality) and the drones. It was a fun and unique experience. I would definitely go again next year!

A Moment That Stood Out

When asked about his favourite part of the day, Dave Nelson, Head of Technology & Commerce said, “Watching students step into the Virtual Reality experience for the first time. The mix of awe, excitement, and curiosity on their faces said it all. It was a powerful reminder of how hands-on learning can open new worlds.”

Flying the drones was really fun, it was a bit hard but once you got going it was great.

More Than Just a Fun Day

Yes, Technology & Commerce Day was exciting, but at its heart, it was also about planting seeds, sparking passions and expanding what students believe is possible. Whether coding a bracelet, flying a drone or designing a meme, our girls were actively building future-ready skills.

And the best part? It proved that innovation isn’t just for tech whizzes in lab coats. It’s for curious minds, creative thinkers and quick-witted meme-makers, aka, our students. They don’t just belong in these spaces. They are made for them.
