Term 2 IGSSA Wrap Up
This term our netball and hockey players showcased their talents. Not only were our results amazing, but it was also fantastic to see so many players doing Santa Maria proud.
We had over 155 netball and 64 hockey players representing the College. Each week these teams trained hard and we loved seeing that pay off in their improvement over the Term.
Whilst IGSSA games are a fun and social environment we also love seeing the girls’ competitiveness and show wonderful sportsmanship each week.
Netball
We really showcased our depth in netball this year, finishing third overall and winning many pennants. This was such an exciting season as many of our pennant results came down to the very last game of the season. Our Years 7/8 teams played St Mary’s in the final round and for many teams, it came down to who won on the day as to who took home the pennant.
Congratulations to the following pennant-winning netball teams:
- Junior A
- Years 7/8 A
- Years 7/8 B
- Years 7/8 E
- Years 7/8 F
- Years 7/8 G
Hockey
Santa Maria placed equal third overall which is our best result since being in the IGSSA competition. A special mention to our Junior A team who came second and our Senior A team who placed third.
When asking the girls why they love IGSSA sport some of their responses were:
“I love representing Santa Maria in hockey as it’s very different to my club”
“I like playing with different people for a short season. It’s nice to play with other girls and in different positions.”
We wish to congratulate all those who participated in IGSSA sport this term. To thank the 500 students who have represented Santa Maria in IGSSA team sports and we look forward to hosting a special morning tea for them this Friday.
