The 2026 Interhouse Athletics Carnival
The 2026 Interhouse Athletics Carnival brought the whole College together for a big day of competition, encouragement and House pride at WA Athletics Stadium on Thursday 18 June.
With chilly air and sunshine overhead, the conditions were perfect for a full day of track and field. From Years 5 to 12, students gave each event their all, whether they were stepping onto the track, taking on a field event, or cheering from the sidelines. It was one of those days that reminded everyone just how much energy, spirit and determination can be packed into a single school event.
Across the program, girls competed in shot put, long jump, discus, hurdles, 800m, javelin, shuttle relay, 100m, egg and spoon, 400m, flag race, 200m, sack race, tunnel ball, 4 x 100m relay and, to close the day, the open relay.
Competition Across Every Year Group
As an all school event for Years 5 to 12, the carnival offered something for everyone. Younger students brought enthusiasm and excitement, while the older girls showed great leadership in the way they competed and encouraged others.
The novelty events added their own layer of fun and energy to the day, with the egg and spoon, sack race, flag race and tunnel ball bringing plenty of smiles and strong support from the crowd. These moments sat beautifully alongside the more fiercely contested track and field events, giving the carnival a balance of competitive spirit and whole school enjoyment.
The relays were a highlight, as they always are. There is something about baton changes, loud cheering and House pride that lifts the atmosphere and brings everyone to the edge of the track. By the time the final open relay was run, the carnival had built to a fitting and energetic finish.
More Than Just Results
One of the best things about the Interhouse Athletics Carnival is that every student has a role to play. Some girls were chasing strong performances in individual events, while others contributed by stepping up wherever their House needed them. Every effort mattered.
The day was about much more than finishing first. It was about commitment, teamwork and the willingness to have a go. Whether on the track, in the field or on the sidelines, students helped create the kind of atmosphere that makes an interhouse carnival memorable.
A Proud Day For The College
The Interhouse Athletics Carnival was a wonderful reminder that school sport is about much more than results alone. It is about showing up, having a go, supporting your House and contributing to something bigger than yourself.
