The Library – A Hub for Learning, Collaboration, and Growth

At Santa Maria College, our library is more than just a place for books—it is a dynamic learning space that empowers students to think critically, collaborate effectively, and develop a lifelong love of learning.Â
Open from 7.45 am – 6.00 pm Monday to Thursday, and until 3.45 pm on Fridays, the library provides a welcoming and supportive environment where students can research, reflect, and connect. Any changes to these hours are communicated via the Santa Maria College app.Â
More Than a Library - A Space for Learning
The library plays a central role in shaping confident, curious, and independent young women. It provides:Â
- A welcoming space for all students – whether they need a quiet place to focus or a collaborative setting for group projectsÂ
- A rich collection of resources, including books, digital databases, and research toolsÂ
- Guidance on research and critical thinking, equipping students with the skills to evaluate information and think independentlyÂ
- Access to technology, digital and artificial intelligence literacy support, preparing students for success in an increasingly digital worldÂ
- Co-curricular opportunities, such as book clubs, research workshops, and study groupsÂ
Supporting Student Success
The library’s extended hours reflect our commitment to supporting students at every stage of their academic journey. Whether they are preparing for exams, working on assignments, or simply exploring a new area of interest, the library provides:Â
- Flexible study spaces, catering to both quiet, independent work and collaborative discussionsÂ
- Access to academic and study support, helping students build strong research and study habitsÂ
- A sense of belonging, where students feel supported and encouraged to explore their interestsÂ

Preparing Students for a Changing World
In a world where information is everywhere, knowing how to find, interpret, and use knowledge effectively is critical. The library team works closely with students and teachers to develop information literacy, research, and problem-solving skills – equipping them to lead with confidence and integrity in their future careers.Â
Encouraging a Culture of Lifelong Learning
At Santa Maria College, we believe that learning extends beyond the classroom. The library is a place where students can be inspired, explore their passions, and develop a love of reading and inquiry that stays with them for life.Â
We encourage all students to make the most of this valuable resource and to see the library as a space for growth, discovery, and opportunity.Â
