UniReady – The Perfect Stepping Stone to University

There’s nothing quite like walking through a university campus to make the future feel real. That’s exactly what our UniReady students experienced during their visit to Curtin University. The day was filled with hands-on activities, friendly faces, and plenty of inspiration. From exploring different study options to racing around the campus in a fun challenge, the girls got a genuine feel for what life at university could be like. By the end of the day, many could see themselves right there taking that next exciting step.

A Different Path, Same Goal

UniReady isn’t a backup plan it’s just a different way to get to university, designed for students who learn best outside the traditional ATAR route. The program fits right into their school routine, with daily classes that feel familiar but come with the exciting bonus of preparing them for uni.

Now in its third year at the College, UniReady has been a real success story. Every student who’s taken part has passed, and this year, 13 girls are working hard towards that same goal.

Skills for Life

The program doesn’t just focus on getting students into certain uni courses – it’s about setting them up to succeed once they are there. UniReady covers everything from academic writing and research to communication and time management. Students complete four key units:

  • Academic Writing: Learning how to research and write like a uni student.
  • Communications: Mastering the skills needed for uni assessments.
  • Introduction to Commerce: Getting a taste of the business world.
  • Introduction to Humanities: Exploring big ideas and critical thinking.

Plenty of Support Along the Way

One of the biggest takeaways from the Curtin visit was that students realised they won’t be on their own. Curtin offers loads of support services – academic workshops, wellbeing programs, and career advice – to help them every step of the way.

With the UniReady journey well underway, we are so proud to see our students growing in confidence and taking charge of their future. We can’t wait to see where this path takes them!
